Background

Monitoring the health of your database and iSeries system has always been important. Today, there are ever-growing management reporting requirements for the purposes of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), HIPAA, GLBA, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, UCCnet, COBIT, NIST800, etc. As a result, increasing pressure is put on the IT personnel to provide critical database and system information in a quick, summarized and transparent fashion to support internal IT monitoring and control as well as these new regulatory requirements.

Although IBM iSeries server is well known for its flexibility, stability and integration; reporting on the health of the database, administrative metrics, database/system changes, and important trends is not something that is provided "out of the box".

Description

delta/TRACKER is a tool that offers a growing set of data collection and reporting features to help IT personnel analyze needed information without having to write their own tools to collect, manage, and query that data. Built-in data collection, data management, analysis, and reporting functions of the product are intended to help IT administrators and management to monitor, control, and communicate about iSeries operational status in new and better ways. Most importantly, each report is intended to be actionable. In other words, the information delta/TRACKER makes available provides not only status/trending statistics, but also can be acted upon as necessary.

delta/TRACKER is not intended to be a real-time product but instead provide trending information or status at a point in time. Report features currently included in delta/TRACKER provide information about database statistics, database structure, query activity indicators, disk space management, system performance, jobs reporting and database security (including SOX compliance).
